Drawing my way round London: My trip across the Thames by ferry
http://drawingmywayroundlondon.blogspot.com/2013/06/my-trip-across-thames-by-ferry.html
Drawing my way round London. Friday, 7 June 2013. My trip across the Thames by ferry. A view of Woolwich Ferry August 2005. I began my 'Drawing my way round London' project with a sketch of the Woolwich Ferry. I can remember being spellbound with the view of the ferries travelling to and fro across the river and I made a note to myself to make a trip on it one day and nearly eight years later I finally did. Project that has sprouted up next to it. All the freight vehicles and cars stay on deck and the pa...

Drawing my way round London: January 2011
http://drawingmywayroundlondon.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Drawing my way round London. Friday, 28 January 2011. West Hampstead: 28 January 2011. West Hampstead has three stations. Three in walking distance of each other! I suppose if the train network was being designed now instead of roughly 150 years ago the engineers would have devised one large railway hub which would extend north, south, east and west. Links to this post. Friday, 14 January 2011. Finchley Road and Frognal: 14 January 2011. Wire mesh fences running the length of the platform. Then we were c...

Drawing my way round London: The Railway Pub, Kew Gardens: 24 June 2011

Drawing my way round London. Saturday, 25 June 2011. The Railway Pub, Kew Gardens: 24 June 2011. I've reached Kew Gardens now and only have one more station left to visit which will mark the end of my journey. I'm pleased that I'm still enjoying the train ride and recalling the images I've drawn as we pass through each station. And do a drawing there too. On reflection I quite like its unfinished look. 25 June 2011 at 22:07. So will this been the end of this blog, once you have finished? In 2005 I awarde...

Drawing my way round London: December 2010
http://drawingmywayroundlondon.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Drawing my way round London. Tuesday, 21 December 2010. Interruption to the service: 21 December 2010. I'd had plans to press on with the drawing project throughout December. I hadn't counted on the weather being too cold to draw in, then having an accident as I was walking on a pavement and breaking a bone in my foot (which is healing very nicely) and the train line being closed over the Christmas period. Drawing my way round London: March 2011
http://drawingmywayroundlondon.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Drawing my way round London. Monday, 28 March 2011. Close to Brondesbury Park station: 28 March 2011. This is the drawing I made after I had left the station and turned right into what I think was Salisbury Road. I was attracted to the view in the distance and then ended up drawing what was in front of it. For this one I used a fine black pen and the previous one was in pencil. Links to this post. Brondesbury Park station: 28 March 2011. Links to this post. Friday, 18 March 2011. It was definitely warmer...

Drawing my way round London: July 2010
http://drawingmywayroundlondon.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Drawing my way round London. Saturday, 24 July 2010. The bridge over the A12: 16 July 2010. I could see this bridge beckoning to me from Hackney Wick station. Once across it I could quickly walk into Victoria Park and then I was nearly back home. This bridge offers people on foot a way of crossing the A12 without getting run over. Although the A12 is not a motorway is certainly looks and sounds like one with traffic using it constantly 24 hours of the day. I believe I read in the Guardian. In 2005 I awar...

Drawing my way round London. Saturday, 25 June 2011. Kew Gardens: 24 June 2011. I find it's always a mistake to have a preconceived idea about what you intend to draw and I fell into this trap yesterday. I had planned to do an elaborate drawing inside the Palm House at Kew. But they keep the temperature so hot in there, since it is full of tropical plants, I almost felt my life force drain out of me. It was fascinating exploring the place but I couldn't spend too long in there. Links to this post. I was ...

Drawing my way round London: September 2010

Drawing my way round London. Saturday, 25 September 2010. Ridley Road market: 25 September 2010. Ridley Road market from the point of view of my feet. Since I was in Dalston I decided to do some food shopping before going home. I could have bought some stuff in Ridley Road market but didn't feel up to choosing which stalls to patronise and which to ignore so I took the easy option and headed to the supermarket instead.
